Smoked Herring Fish and Shakshuka Recipe

Smoked Herring Shakshuka

Necessary Ingredients for Smoked Herring Shakshuka Recipe

  1. Olive oil-2 tsp
  2. Finely diced onion- 1 medium
  3. Garlic cloves minced- 2
  4. Red bell pepper in strips- 1
  5. Yellow bell pepper in strips- 1
  6. Chopped red chili- 1 pieces
  7. Chopped tomatoes- 1 pieces
  8. Harissa- 2tsp
  9. Cumin powder- 1tsp
  10. Eggs- 4 pieces
  11. Tin of smoked herring- 1tin
  12. Salt- ½  tsp
  13. Pepper- ½  tsp
  14. Lemon juice- ½  tsp
  15. Coriander leaves- 5-6 pieces

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add the onion, garlic, and chili after the oil is hot. Fry for 3-4 minutes until the chilies are soft.
  • After 3-4 minutes, add chopped tomatoes, harissa, and cumin powder. Then cook on low flame for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, make four indentations in the sauce and crack an egg into each.
  • Arrange the herring fillets around the egg.
  • Then cover for 10 minutes and let the eggs set.
  •  Finally, season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle lemon zest on top and serve with coriander leaves.

NOTE: Overcooking and undercooking will reduce the flavor and nutritional value of this food.
